Things to do in & around the Bay Area
From Snowulf
I'm putting together a random list of things to do in and around the Bay Area (say 100mile radius). Listed format "* City Name - Location - Notes"
- San Fran - Fishermans Warf - Its right next to Pier 39, but isn't as touristy. If you look around, you can find some good stuff. (There is an Irish Pub between the warf and ghirardelli square which was really good)
- Fairfield - Jelly Belly Factory Tour - Free candy? Can't go wrong!
- San Jose - Winchester Mystery House - Crazy Lady Builds Crazy House, 'Nuff Said.
- Sacramento - Just goto Sac. SF to Sac is only 85 miles. Entire new area to explore.
- Monterey - Aquarium - Yes Monterey is a bit far for "in the bay", its 121 miles from SF. Even still, you can make a nice day of it. Just make sure you have good directions, as the signage around Monterey is TERRIBLE (with the exception of getting to the Aquarium).
- San Fran - Japantown - Also known as Little Osaka. Its a cool place to go. They have a nice underground parking garage and 3 interconnected malls. You can even ::gasp:: go outside of the malls and wander around. If you are there and hungry, don't eat at Benihana's... PLEASE. You are in JAPANTown, try one of the reasonably authentic restaurants. I assure you, they are all EXCELLENT (I've eaten at all the places in the mall).
